The Booklyn Decade Archive is READY!With the fabulous help of 4 librarian/archivists (Amber Billey, Sarah Gentile, Heather Halliday, and Alice Shahan), the BOOKLYN Artist Alliance has organized its vast collection of documents and ephemera from the last 10 years (1997-2008) into a coherent archive. It is ready for acquisition.
Founded in 1999, BOOKLYN is an artist-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting books as an art form and educational resource. BOOKLYN provides educational institutions, artists who work on paper, and the public with programming involving contemporary artist books & artworks, and to assists artists in exhibiting, distributing, and publishing innovative works on paper. Right now in the BOOKLYN space, we have over 21 boxes of original artist books, associated artwork (prints, drawings, etc), artists files and correspondence, and other vital records of publications, exhibitions, educational outreach, etc. We organized 10 years worth of correspondence, book mock-ups, artist’s proofs, prints, single-object and editioned books, canceled checks, hand-drawn invoices, and much more! This archive is an invaluable piece of book arts history at the turn of our century. Over 113 important American (and many European and Asian) book artists and presses are represented in the archive.
BOOKLYN is looking to sell this resource to a public collection to balance our operating funds. For questions or inquires about The Booklyn Decade Archive, please contact Felice Tebbe. This page is maintained by Marshall Weber. |
