Materialism: The Dustbin of History

A Filing by Marshall Weber, 2002, 123 pages, 11 x 4” x 13”, multi-media, a unique collage and ink painting book featuring 25 years of international Communist and Socialist documents and ephemera collected, collated, collaged and painted by Weber. The book was stitched together by seamstress Kimberly Borsa and then bound in an innovative variable page and folio hanging binding by Shon Schooler. Cased in two-inch thick impasto latex covers (originally the factory issue pants from Weber's stint in a latex jewelry factory). Various hidden portals, flaps, windows, pockets and curtains hide multiple layers of historical indications throughout the book. A colophon is inserted into one of the pages.
