In this five-volume boxset, artist Anna Craycroft muses on how crystallography can serve as a metaphor for the idiosyncrasies of human behavior. Craycroft’s concise poetic prose is illustrated by an archive of vintage photographs, drawings and illustrations culled from a wide range of sources. Each book in Developing Patterns follows the format of a children’s picture board book.

About the artist:
Anna Craycroft received her MFA from Columbia University in 2004. She has had solo exhibitions at the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin Texas, Tracy Williams Ltd in NYC, Le Case del Arte in Milan, and a collaboration with Ian Cooper at Sandroni Rey, Los Angeles. Craycroft’s work has been included in numerous group exhibitions including the 2005 “Greater New York” show at PS1, and Public Holiday Project’s “Bunch Alliance and Dissolve” at the Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinatti. She has been commissioned to make public sculpture by Socrates Sculpture Park NYC, Lower Manhattan Cultural Center NYC, and for “Freedom: American Sculpture” at Den Haag Sculptuur, The Hague. In 2005 she curated the performance series "Staging the Phenomenal Character"; filing the gallery after each event with a single work made in response. Craycroft is represented by Tracy Williams Ltd Gallery in New York where she lives and works. She has published one other artists' book, "The Agency of the Orphan".
